Study Information Sheet
Please read this study information sheet carefully before you decide to participate in the study.
Purpose of the research study: The purpose of the study is to find out how people are affected by advertisement tracking and their opinion on the issue.
What you will do in the study: This survey will ask for participant's frequncy of social media use, how often they see advertisement which may or may not relate to his/her recent search history and how do they feel about it. This survey consists of 10 questions maximum, depending on your choices, you may not have to answer all of the questions.
Time required: The study will require about 5-10 minute of your time.
Risks: There are no anticipated risks in this study.
Benefits: There are no direct benefits to you for participating in this research study. The study may help us understand if advertisement tracking is useful and favoured by average citizens.
Confidentiality: This survey will not record any personal information such as name, age, gender. It will only record anoymous data about the frequency of use of social media
Voluntary participation: Your participation in the study is completely voluntary.
Right to withdraw from the study: You have the right to withdraw from the study at any time without penalty.
How to withdraw from the study:
If you want to withdraw from the study, please email Klaus Peng (wp6gpq@virginia.edu) as soon as possible. There is no penalty for withdrawing. If you would like to withdraw after your materials have been submitted, please also contact Klaus Peng as soon as possible.
Payment: You will receive no payment for participating in the study.
Using data beyond this study: The data collected will only be used in this study and will be destoryed after the study is conducted.
