Purpose of the research study: The purpose of the study is to see whether people are aware of how their expectations can affect certain outcomes. The two specifics of this used in this survey are 1) how expecting/being motivated to do well on an assignment changes the actual outcome and 2) how the placebo effect works.

You will answer a few questions, and your responses will be anonymously recorded. The study will require about 5 minutes of your time, and there are no anticipated risks. There are no direct benefits to you for participating in this research study. The study may help us understand more about how people understand the effect of expectations. The information that you give in the study will be handled confidentially. Your name and other information that could be used to identify you will not be collected or linked to the data.

Your participation in the study is completely voluntary. You have the right to withdraw from the study at any time without penalty. You will receive no payment for participating in the study. The recordings of your response along with other responses will be used to asses the overall opinions of a specific demographic.
