STAY IN THE GAME PLEDGE

The University of Virginia’s Comprehensive Cancer Center established the Stay in the Game Initiative in January 2024. This initiative was developed in response to a series of community conversations that highlighted the need for greater community awareness of prostate cancer prevention and screening.

Commitment
Our organization is committed to Stay in the Game’s shared mission of reducing prostate cancer’s impact, particularly the disproportionate burden on Black and African American men in Virginia. Together, we have the tools, knowledge, and capacity to drive effective prevention and early detection. Together, we commit to fostering equitable access to prostate cancer prevention and care, recognizing that achieving health equity is a shared responsibility.

Our collective commitment is to tackle prostate cancer as a team with the formation of strategic partnerships. We strive for a future where Black and African American men in Virginia experience reduced rates of prostate cancer, with equitable access to prevention, screening, and care, resulting in healthier, thriving, and empowered communities.
