Studies may pose risks to students (physical, emotional, career), and these risks must be minimized. Trade-offs between type and amount of risk and type and importance of data must be balanced in deciding whether to approve a project. Please comment on your study's risk to medical students:
Medical education research studies require institutional resources and support, and therefore it is important that that there be a reasonable expectation that the research study can be accomplished with the resources available to the researchers.
Please comment on the practicality of conducting your study:
It is important that the research conducted with medical students is likely to result in useful data that will improve medical education.
Please comment on the potential usefulness of data from your project:
Completing surveys or participating in other ways as research subjects is a burden on students. The Senior Associate Dean for Education is concerned that students not be asked to participate in unreasonable numbers of projects or any single study that may represent an unreasonable burden on the participants.
