Permission to Reproduce Student Work - Spring 2023
What is this?
I conduct, present, and publish research on writing instruction as part of my work. Part of that research comes back into the classroom: as I study what methods, assignments, and outcomes benefit students most, I eliminate items that do not show clear benefit to students and build on those that do show student benefit.
I use your material in two major ways:
1. First, as part of an aggregate collection of student work, so I can study student material as a whole to see what’s working and what’s not.
2. Second, as specific examples—in which case, I might distribute your work in whole or in part (with or without your name attached, as you indicate below).
-To future students, so they can see examples of former student writing as they learn better writing strategies themselves.
-In conference presentations or publications (e.g., articles/books/websites/etc.), as examples for others of “real” student writing.
If you’re comfortable with my using your work for research and teaching, please let me know whether or not you want your name attached. (When reporting on aggregate student data, all information will be anonymized, but I can include student names with specific writing samples.)
If you're NOT comfortable with my using your work for research and teaching, you can opt out entirely.
Thank you for your consideration!
