The UVA Career Center is in the midst of creating a unique opportunity for students interested in learning more about the healthcare industry to participate in a 1 week residential “Healthcare Lab” program in Washington DC, January 7th – 11th 2019.

We’d like to hear from you about how interested you’d be in participating in an experience like this. Please read the following program description and take just a few minutes to share your feedback with us.

Led entirely by alums and employers, the DC Healthcare Lab is a 5 day residential program hosted in Washington DC that will provide students with an overview of the US healthcare system. The non-credit course will help students develop a better understanding of how the healthcare system operates, how policy makers, providers, and payers interact to form the system, and the variety of non-clinical careers that exist in this growing industry.

Over the course of the week, students will travel to different health related organizations each day to participate in cases and lectures and each evening the students will work on engaging activities alongside alumni who work in various healthcare roles. In addition to building a better understanding of the healthcare system, students will gain skills working in teams, solving business cases, and leading presentations.

While students will not walk away as experts of healthcare, they will engage in hands-on exercises and interactive lectures that will expand their understanding of current issues and trends influencing healthcare, and increase their acumen on the topic.
