In order to provide the best service for students, the UVA GWL uses Slack, a nonUniversity platform, for some communication functions. Note that the GWL Slack only allows sign ups with UVA emails, so your UVA email will be used in the Slack sign up process, but not your netbadge login or UVA password. Do not use your UVA netbadge password as your Slack password.

Slack allows you to receive the latest announcements from the Graduate Writing Lab, message staff at the Graduate Writing Lab directly, participate in channel and private channel discussions and direct message others users (including students, postdocs, staff and faculty) of the Graduate Writing Lab Slack. Open and private channels are sometimes used for specific groups, purposes and events. Note that by default others in the GWL Slack will be able to direct message you. See Slack's website for how to manage your channel subscriptions, notifications and preferences.

The University of Virginia wants to ensure that you recognize Slack as a platform independent of the University and understand that by signing up and using the service you are consenting to Slack's privacy policies, data protection and terms and conditions (which can be reviewed directly from Slack and which you agree to during Slack's sign up process).

Once you submit this form, you will be given the link to the GWL Slack sign up and can complete sign up process.

For more information on student privacy rights in general at UVA, please visit http://www.virginia.edu/siteinfo/privacy.

By submitting this form I understand that Slack is not a university platform and affirmatively consent that by signing up for Slack (a third party service not designated by UVA) I will be subject to the Privacy and Data Protection policies as outlined by the terms, conditions and policies of Slack.

Note: Submitting this form will redirect you to the GWL Slack sign up link. It will not sign you up for Slack automatically. You will still need to go through the process with Slack directly.
