We are no longer accepting applications for RAs to begin in the Fall 2025 semester.
You can submit an application here in the event that a position opens in the future. We will follow up with you in the coming weeks if you've submitted your application by March 30th.
Thank you for your interest in joining our lab! As an undergraduate research assistant, you would play a crucial role in developing a brand-new lab and contributing to lab culture. A commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive lab environment is critical – we expect lab to be a positive, fun place where people with diverse backgrounds and experiences can learn from each other and support each other with utmost respect and openness to growth. We welcome motivated undergraduate research assistants (RAs) from a diversity of majors who believe the lab is an ideal fit for their learning goals. You can expect hands-on training in running experiments with teens and families, conducting literature reviews, running focus groups and recruiting study participants, and data collection and analysis. RAs are expected to attend regular lab and team meetings, and will work closely with the lab’s research staff. RAs who show high engagement and independence will also have the opportunity to propose and/or lead research projects.
Our lab studies adolescent social, emotional, and neurobiological development. Applicants should be interested in working with children, teens, and families. One primary goal of the lab is to better understand factors that contribute to the development of anxiety disorders and suicidal thoughts and behaviors in youth with primary anxiety disorders. Thus, applicants should also be interested in mental health. Finally, we use multiple methods in this work, and applicants should have an interest in one of the following methods: functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to study brain function, ecological momentary assessment (EMA) to study emotions and social experiences in daily life, and/or social media data collection to study teens’ experiences on social media. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.
