Informed consent agreement
Study Title: Public Opinion and Local Transportation in Charlottesville
Please read this consent agreement carefully before you decide to participate in the study.
Purpose of the research study: The purpose of the study is to explore opinions about transportation methods in the Charlottesville area.
What you will do in the study: You will be asked to complete a brief survey, where you will be asked for your usage and opinions of buses and electric scooters in the Charlottesville area. You can skip, or choose not to answer, any question that makes you uncomfortable and stop the survey at any time.
All participants in this study must be at least 18 years old.
Time required: The study will require about 6-8 minutes of your time.
Risks: There are no anticipated risks or dangers in this study.
Benefits: There are no direct benefits to you for doing this research study. The study may help us understand opinions about public transportation methods in the Charlottesville area. The results of the final survey analysis will be made available to the public. They can be obtained from the Department of Politics at the University of Virginia.
Confidentiality: The information that you give in the study will not be connected to your identity or name. Your name or other identifying information will not be collected. The information you give will be stored in UVA Box, a secure location. The information will not be used in any way to identify you.
Voluntary participation: Your participation in the study is completely voluntary. You may skip, or choose not to answer, any questions that make you uncomfortable.
Right to withdraw from the study: You have the right to withdraw from, or leave, the study and not answer any more questions at any time without penalty.
How to withdraw from the study: If you want to withdraw from the study while completing the study, simply close your internet browser. We will not use or keep your data. If you want to withdraw from the study after completing the study, please contact Russell Finelsen at rmf2hb@virginia.edu, and include the time at which you completed the study in your email. There is no penalty for withdrawing.
Using data beyond this study: The data you provide will be retained in a secure manner by Russell Finelsen for one year and then destroyed.
